- This update was sent to me by a user: "No, he did not demonstrate that! It was the French "Otto Company" who showed a small engine running on peanut oil. Diesel's engines were running on a blend of several oils and chemicals that were developed by the chemical industry- depending on what was the cheapest. Read more in: Diesel, Rudolf. 1913. The invention of the diesel engine."
Also in a follow up email from the same person: "You can actually veryify this information in Diesel's own book which was reprinted several times. The original (German) title is: Diesel, Rudolf. 1913. Die Entstehung des Dieselmotors. Berlin. ("The developement of the Diesel Engine") where he described it like a diary how his machine grew. The original frametexts mention the world fair in Paris with the vegoil engine. I don't know if there is an English version available, but I can't imagine that there is none..."
